ride For those who want a little more than just a relaxing holiday, we operate trail rides and hiking trips right from the base camp. The camp is central to many horseback and hiking trails and in just a short time, guests are experiencing the pristine beauty of the Flathead Valley.
For the avid angler, the Flathead River is a five-minute walk from the main lodge. The river is home to a good population of cutthroat trout, ideal for the fly fisherman. In August and September, the river becomes the spawning channel for a healthy run of bull trout. These fish are big and hardy and are caught both with flies and lures. Most of the time the angler fishes from shore but float trips are available upon request.
The angler can also jump on the back of a horse and ride to one of the Flathead’s alpine lakes to try their luck with cutthroat trout. Here the angler can enjoy fishing in a spectacular setting and at the end of the day, there is nothing better than savouring the flavour of the day’s catch over an open campfire!
Whatever the client wants, Packhorse has the facilities, equipment and staff available to fulfill your needs. We can also try to offer a schedule that is relatively flexible to accommodate varying departure dates.
The portfolio description and schedule dates are only guidelines. When booking a wilderness adventure, just let us know what your group’s interests are and the desired length of time and we will schedule a trip tailored to your group’s specific needs!
